About us
Soccer4Change is a dynamic non-profit organization on a mission to harness the power of soccer for social transformation across communities in Africa. Founded on the belief that sport has the potential to drive positive change, we are dedicated to empowering individuals and fostering unity, equality, and development through the beautiful game.
Our organization is committed to breaking down barriers, promoting gender equality, and creating opportunities for youth to thrive. We leverage the universal language of soccer to address pressing issues such as education, health, and social inclusion, aiming to leave a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
In 2017, Soccer4Change was born from the passionate heart of Ebrima Jatta, a former professional soccer player with a remarkable journey. Born and raised in The Gambia, a small nation struggling with extreme poverty, EJ understands firsthand the challenges faced by children growing up in such conditions. Many young Gambians are forced to leave school prematurely, working on family farms due to financial constraints and the inability to afford even modest training fees at the Gilkock Football Academy.
Soccer4Change emerges from EJ’s own dreams and experiences, aiming to break the shackles of poverty and limitations for youth. We provide safety, support, mentorship, coaching, equipment, and educational tutoring. Our belief is that by transforming the lives of children and teenagers, we can also transform the communities they reside in.
To date, we have donated over 1,000 soccer boots and countless smiles, bringing hope and opportunities to young players in need.
