Soccer4Change: Scoring Goals, Changing Lives
soccer4change
Our Mission
In 2017, Soccer4Change was born from the passionate heart of Ebrima Jatta, a former professional soccer player with a remarkable journey. Born and raised in The Gambia, a small nation struggling with extreme poverty, EJ understands firsthand the challenges faced by children growing up in such conditions. Many young Gambians are forced to leave school prematurely, working on family farms due to financial constraints and the inability to afford even modest training fees at the Gilkock Football Academy.
Our vision
Soccer4Change emerges from EJ’s own dreams and experiences, aiming to break the shackles of poverty and limitations for youth. We provide safety, support, mentorship, coaching, equipment, and educational tutoring. Our belief is that by transforming the lives of children and teenagers, we can also transform the communities they reside in
EJ's Inspirational Journey
EJ’s childhood was a delicate balance between farm work, school, and his deepest passion – soccer. Often, homework took a backseat as he woke up early to fetch water for the family’s gardens. Despite the challenges, EJ would sneak away to play soccer with friends, fueled by the dream of becoming a professional player.
